I thought the pregnancy was a whole lot of fun... then the labor... oh boy! But I didn't know post-pregnancy would be a barrel of laughs!...
10. Your living room has become a baby's playground including a: swing, bouncer, bucket of toys and books, and tummy time mat 9. You start to get ready to leave the house at 8am and finally get out the door by 2pm 8. Taking a shower is like going to the opera... it doesn't' happen very often 7. Choosing an outfit for the day is a choice between your polk-a-dot PJs or the stripped ones you wore all day yesterday 6. You're makeup bag has cob webs and dust continually building on it 5. Lanolin has become an essential product for keeping sanity 4. Two words: sitz bath 3. What white shirt? Oh you mean the one stained with spit up? 2. Your precious baby's "feeding area" feels like 2 pieces of beef jerky dried all day in the sun and ran over by a mac truck 1. You have no idea what day it is because the days and nights roll all into one with 4 hours segments of feedings and many diaper changes in between.
To all of the moms out there... YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!!
Boy, did your post bring back memories of my own when my daughter was a newborn. Eight years ago I was going through what you are right now. Recovery does come, I promise, just not when you want it - and I had a c-section with her. Talk about wanting to get up to get the baby out of her bassinet and having to suck it up and ask hubby to please bring her to you so you can feed her...wow. Eventually you'll have your living room back, get out the door before 8 a.m., be dressing in your favorite pair of jeans and pretty top, wear makeup again because you'll discover how much better you feel with even just a dusting of eyeshadow and a little mascara, take a nice, long hot shower, be past the throw-up stage and will be able to keep your white shirts white, and learn the days of the week and not have them all rolled into one. I know it may not seem like any of that is possible, at least not right now, but it will come. You will get there and patience will be second nature!
ReplyDeleteHello! I ran across your blog through Leal's and I must say your little girl is GORGEOUS! Life as a new mother is amazing and life altering isn't it? Mario and I have a 10 month old named Joel at home and he keeps us laughing every day. Enjoy every minute! :-)

How rewarding to have my baby have a baby! Yes, it will get better, but it is HARD work! 100% super-woman-type! You are doing great and I am so proud of you!!! Some things will be better, but some things get worse... It is called life! Just enjoy the journey, remembering the fun/good times and leaving behind the bad! It IS worth it! Love you!
ReplyDeleteOh man....you kill me. So true, so true! Have fun with this stage...it goes by too fast!
