@ The Farm Institute

My postings are a little mixed up...
As mentioned in the Halloween Party post, the Brown family just spent a fabulous weekend with us. One of our outings was to the Farm Institute here on the island. Most people don't think of agriculture and farms when they think of Martha's Vineyard, but it actually makes up a big part of the island. Here the institute provided hay rides and the freshest apple cider we've ever had! We literally watched them take an apple and put it in a giant hand grinder then press out the juice through a sift. It was absolutely delicious! I wish we would have gotten pictures of it.
Here I'm riding with 2 of the girls from the preschool I used to teach at. They are hilarious! Notice their moms aren't riding with them that's because they're 7 and that means they can walk around and ride hay rides by themselves. This hay ride around the farm was a little long for Ms. Emma (left) who kept me entertained with interesting conversation:
"Are babies born with clothes on?"
"Aren't the daddy's the ones who say if it's a boy or a girl and then say it on the news?"
"Tell me when to jump off when it's still moving okay?"
Me: "What's your favorite part of school?" (She's in 1st grade)
Her: "Zero! I wish school was swimming all day and eating ice cream."
Me too Emma. (:
It was very windy & a bit chilly!

  2. Oh my goodness... Emma's little comments are so precious. Especially the one about wanting to swim all day and eat ice cream... ME TOO! The simplicity of summer... sigh.
