Top 10 Reasons You Know You're Pregnant
10. You sleep with a dryer sheet on your face to keep out all smells while still being able to breathe.
9. You've watched every movie you own because it's the only activity that makes time go by and gets your mind off being completely nauseated
8. The man of your dreams has turned into a smelly creature with death defying breath.
7. You'd rather eat dry cereal and call it a meal because the smells from the refrigerator can take your life.
6. 10 hours of sleep is simply not enough and going to bed at 7pm is absolutely necessary.
5. You suddenly have 30 half eaten boxes of various cereal from Kashi Healthy Heart to Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
4. You plan on waking up between the hours of 1-3 am to: 1.Go to the bathroom 2. Eat a small bowl of cereal (yes, this means you have to open the putrid refrigerator) 3. Then lay awake for an hour hoping that you can fall back asleep soon to get at least 10 hours of sleep.
3. Every healthy eating habit has rushed out the door including all of the once-wonderfully-satisfying vegetables, just for the sake of survival. (Yes, this means you force yourself to gag down a small salad hoping that this child you're creating is getting something nutritious to eat.)
2. You tie an elastic hair-band through the button whole of your jeans to keep them from falling off but not in anyway touching your stomach.
And finally you know you are pregnant if
1. After 10 years of being utterly anti fast-food suddenly you find yourself eating Taco Bell twice in one day.
Yes, Brent and I are expecting our first baby and all the horror stories about pregnancy are true. I'm due August 5th. And to make it even more fun, my sister Michelle and Dallin are expecting their first 4 days after. They live in Georgia. My mom has never missed a birth yet.

Congratulations you two!! I am so excited for you both!
ReplyDeleteI am BUSTING UP! Lisa, you are my TWINNER pregnant sister! I am so serious... none of the other sisters had to do the 3:00 in the am bowl of cereal... I did with all three... or else it was barf city. I was a HUGE cereal eater... Life was the best. I too could not gag down the veggies and I worried that my babies would not get the nutrition they needed... but since the kiddos turned out fine, even smart, I think the cereal is just fine. I am BUSTING UP at your dryer sheet face mask... that is a super fabulous idea. I tried to sleep with nose plugs (the kind swimmers use for diving) but those made me gag too. Looks like you found a better solution. And yes, Glenn's breath was ranchee too... so many things gagged me. It WILL get better... 15 weeks is just around the corner.... almost there sister.
ReplyDeleteyyyeeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh we are so excited!!! we will be there for support when Brent starts passing out :)
ReplyDeletei can attest to the eating of taco bell twice in one day, actually it was twice in one hour. i thought my healthy -eating daughter-in-law had been switched out for another when she asked "where is the nearest taco bell?" It will all be worth it in the end, when you hold your adorable newborn baby! I'm soooo happy!
ReplyDeleteSo what you're saying is if I'm eating Taco Bell twice a day I might be knocked up?? We're in trouble if that's the case. bahahahaa
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
I am dying laughing!! So true!! I never had to do the 3am thing, but I did visit my toilet every morning though. Maybe the 3am thing would have been better. But, I was too lazy to get up. I loved the hours of sleep not being enough! Now you understand my visits of fast food too well! ha ha My problem is, I can't seem to stop. LOL I was about as far along as you and sporting the rubber band thing too. Michelle told me of a waste band for this stage, and it is more comfortable than a rubber band. Ask her about it. (can't remember the name) Way smart about the dryer sheet. I can totally relate! I threw up every morning faithfully for 70 days with Kirra (found out later it was from too much iron in my body. No more iron pills for me!) and I remember one morning being so excited I hadn't thrown up yet. Told Stew... kissed him goodbye on my way to work... smelled his breath... and ran straight into the bathroom! ha ha ha Good luck my sister! Sounds like you, Tracey and I are the same kind of sickos! ha ha Maybe that means great labors? I'm so excited!!! Love you! Count down to the 2nd trimester. That's the fun stage!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, you probably didn't know Vance and I follow you and Brent on your blog. I am so excited for you both and very sympathetic. ( I am 21 weeks, due in June). I was /am really sick as well and I hate to say it, I was sick the whole time with Liesel, and with this one too. I only tell you this because I counted down to the 2nd trimester and was so disappointed that it didn't get better. PS. I think I ate 2 veggies the WHOLE time I was pregnant with Liesel and she turned out great!

You are just too hilarious!!! Every single word was TRUE!!! Thank you for putting it all down in writing so we can relive our own horrors... We laugh only because we KNOW your pain, daughter! Just remember, two of your sisters and I had amazing labors, so it was worth all the 9 months of sacrifice to have 20 minute (or 8 minute if you are Tracey) labors! Go Lisa!!! Love, Mom
ReplyDeleteYay!! I'm soooo happy for you!...not that you're sick, but that you're going to have a cute bundle of joy in a matter of months! I'm right behind you...we're due the beginning of September! :) I hope you start to feel better soon! I can't wait to see photos of your baby! Miss you!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Finally the word has broken out! You'll never guess what either...I HAVE KEPT THE SECRET ALL THIS TIME! YAY! I don't have to hold it in anymore. What a relief!
ReplyDeletehmmm... so does this mean i'm NOT pregnant??? i don't have any of those symptoms :) hehehe! don't worry lisa, i'm sure delivery will come back to bite me in the rear end... full throttle.
ReplyDeleteLisa I forgot to mention the best tip. I just discovered a few weeks ago that sucking on ice chips almost completely supresses the nausea. I discovered it by accident and now I suck on them a lot. It is the only way I get through church, with my little tupperware of ice chips. If you can't tolerate plain water ice chips you can mix water with a juice of your choice (1 part juice to 3 parts water is not too overwhelming). If you can't buy crushed ice you can make your own with mini ice cube trays or regular ice cube trays filled 1/3 of the way full. I wish I had known this in my first trimester (and first pregnency)Good Luck, and congratulations!
