Candlestick Bowling

Candlestick: the ONLY way to bowl according to East Coast USA. Don't even bother with "10 pin bowling" when you've got candlestick bowling. The difference? smaller pins shaped like an oval with flat ends; the ball is about 1/4 the size with only one weight option; there aren't any fancy technical stuff like computers to keep score or an air compressor to retrieve the ball. Just yer good ol' fashion bowlin'. Brent & I headed off island for another Boston trip with Melissa and Douglas. We've been dying to try this new candlestick bowling. Little did we know it's been around forever and is the more popular form of bowling out here. It's a lot harder to get a spare let alone a strike but we loved it so much more. We're fans.

  1. Candlepin (as they call it in Nova Scotia) is the best! I agree that it is way more fun than the other variety. I love the size of the ball. It is way too easy to throw it way too far down the lane. I almost got kicked out a few times because of such an alleged incident.

  4. Welcome to the East!! When I was growing up in PA, that was called duckpin bowling.

It's good to see that the Brown's are flourishing in New England.
